Traffic Counts

The City of Glendale's Traffic Count Program provides traffic counts biennially or based on available funding. The traffic count data collected is represented as Annual Average Daily Traffic (AADT) volumes which are adjusted using Seasonal Adjustment Factors.

AADT is defined as the total volume of traffic passing a point or segment of a roadway facility in both directions for one year, divided by the number of days in the year, a seasonal adjustment factor is then applied to the AADT to remove seasonal and weekday biases on the volumes.  The city provides the most recent AADT for a roadway segment, which is reflected as Current AADT. Current AADT is then used as a traffic management tool to incorporate intersection safety improvements where traffic volumes warrant a change.
