‘HOOK A KID ON FISHING’ RETURNS APRIL 22

This free community event occurs at Bonsall Park

Have you ever wanted to get your child hooked on the great outdoor sport of fishing? Now is your chance through the city of Glendale’s ‘Hook a Kid on Fishing’ clinic this Saturday, April 22, beginning at 8 a.m. This spring event will be hosted at Bonsall Park, located on the corner of 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

“The ‘Hook a Kid on Fishing’ event is in its tenth year and is one of my favorite events in the city,” said Glendale City Councilmember Jamie Aldama of the Ocotillo District. “This is a day where children and family members of all ages can enjoy the great outdoors right here in their city. I look forward to a free fishing day with our community.”

The Glendale recreation division invites children of all ages and their families out for a fun-filled morning. There will be prize drawings, free food, water, snacks and more during this family-friendly event. Loaner fishing poles will be available thanks to the Arizona Game & Fish Department and no fishing license is required.

“We are excited to host this great community event,” said Glendale’s Senior Recreation Coordinator Manuel Padia. “We will have staff available to work with the kids on how to properly set up fishing lines and to answer any other questions they may have.”

The event runs until noon and no preregistration is required. If you are unable to attend, the Parks and Recreation Department will hold its next free clinic in October at Heroes Regional Park Lake.
