Fire Prevention

This division of the fire department accomplishes fire prevention through code enforcement and education, as well as identifying the cause and origin of fires that occur within the city. The goal of the Fire Prevention Division is to help prevent fires through a combination of inspections of new and existing buildings, structures and premises for the conformity to the locally adopted fire code consistent with nationally recognized good practice by providing a reasonable level of life safety and property protection from the hazards of fire, explosion or dangerous conditions, and to educate the public to conduct all activities with a conscious effort of placing fire safety at the forefront. Successful implementation of the Fire Marshal’s mission is accomplished by trained and certified employees to enforce a variety of fire prevention regulations. The cumulative efforts of the Fire Marshal help to lower property insurance costs, foster economic development, provide a reasonable level of safety to fire fighters and emergency responders during emergency operations, and increase the quality of life in the City of Glendale.
