Glendale Police Awarded National “Click it or Ticket” Campaign Grant through the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety
In support of the Glendale Police Department’s commitment to traffic safety and the protection of Occupants, the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety has partnered with Glendale PD and awarded the department a “Click It or Ticket” grant that will aid in the ongoing efforts in making valley roadways safer and protecting the occupants that are traveling on Arizona roadways and highways. The specific grant is as follows:
The National Click It or Ticket Grant is for $8,000. It will assist in supporting overtime and will allow the Glendale Police Department to supplement additional resources to the two weeks, “Click it or Ticket” Campaign which will run from May 19, 2025, through June 1, 2025.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the national use rate was at 91.2% in 2024. Seat belt use in passenger vehicles saved an estimated 14,955 lives in 2017. In 2023 23,959 passenger vehicle occupants were killed. Nearly 50% of those killed were not buckled (based on known seat belt use). Seat belts saved an estimated 14,955 lives and could have saved an additional 2,549 people if they had been wearing seat belts, in 2017 alone.
During the two-week enforcement timeframe, the Glendale Police Department will engage in Occupant protection traffic enforcement with a “zero tolerance” approach to seat belt and child safety seat violations.
