The board of directors of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA) has unanimously elected Glendale Councilmember Bart Turner as president of the board. Councilmember Turner has served on the board since 2014. His dedication and expertise led to a previous term as vice president on the board. Councilmember Turner represents Glendale’s Barrel District.

“With the recent declaration of a Tier 1 Shortage on the Colorado River, implementing smart water strategies has never been more important,” says Glendale Councilmember Bart Turner. “I and the entire AMWUA board are dedicated to developing solutions that guarantee a safe, sustainable water supply for all Arizona families.”

The Arizona Municipal Water Users Association was established in 1969 by five cities, including the city of Glendale. The organization has since grown to include 10 municipalities within Maricopa County, serving nearly 3.5 million people—more than 50% of the state’s population.

AMWUA assists its member cities in providing assured, safe, and sustainable water supplies to their communities. Working collaboratively, the organization advocates responsible water stewardship that supports economic prosperity and safeguards Arizona’s water supplies for future generations.
