Glendale Police Joins ‘Neighbors’ by Ring to Provide Users with Real-Time, Local Crime and Safety Information

Partnering to reduce crime in communities by connecting people, security cameras and law enforcement

The Glendale Police Department would like to announce that it has joined the free Neighbors app by Ring. This digital app will be another channel for the Police Department to communicate with the Glendale community by providing real-time, local crime and safety information. The Neighbors network already has millions of users and has been instrumental in catching package thieves, stopping burglaries, and keeping neighborhoods safe.

Residents can text ‘glendaleaz’ to 555888 from their smartphone to download the Neighbors app for free on iOS and Android. The Neighbors app can be used to; join their “neighborhood”, share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts, and receive real-time safety alerts from their neighbors, local law enforcement and the Ring team.

Glendale Police Administrative Services Commander Colby Brandt believes that this program, “creates a great opportunity for the Glendale Police Department and the community to improve real time communication regarding crime. Ring has provided the means for the community to interact and share valuable tips and evidence anonymously to help keep our neighborhoods safe. The more residents download and use the app, the more vital information will be made available to our Department so that we can continue to enhance community safety.”

Jamie Siminoff, Chief Inventor and Founder of Ring, said: “We’re excited
to have the Glendale Police Department join Neighbors to keep their community up-to-date on local crime and safety information. Over the past few years we have learned that when neighbors, the Ring team and law enforcement all work together, we can create safer communities. Neighbors is meant to facilitate realtime communication between these groups, while maintaining neighbor privacy first and foremost. By bringing security to every neighbor with the free Neighbors app, the Glendale community can stay on top of crime and safety alerts as they happen.”
