JToms Glendale's Best: Glendale Business Partner to Donate Two Police Vehicles to Puerto Peñasco Mexico 
At the invitation of Mayor “Kiko” Munro of Rocky Point Mexico, Mayor Weiers visited the city. The visit was followed by a meeting at the Glendale Chamber of Commerce with both Mayors and Chamber leadership. What followed, was a great act of kindness from Glendale businesses called the “Friends Helping Friends Project.” Two city of Glendale police patrol cars were set to retire. Avanti Windows stepped up and purchased the vehicles, Sands Chevrolet painted the cars and Bell Signs completed the decaling. Then, the Glendale Chamber of Commerce facilitated the transaction and delivery to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.

military induction Mayor’s 2nd Annual Military Induction Ceremony
On April 28, 2018, Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers joined the Glendale Chamber of Commerce Military & Veterans Affairs Committee, officials from the U.S. Armed Services and local organizations to salute the enlistment decision made by local high school students to join the military. New recruits were honored with a presentation of their first challenge coin, a Certificate of Appreciation from the Office of the Mayor, a ceremonial administering of oath and a musical tribute. Big Dog Run

3rd Annual Mayors' Big Dog Run
Hundreds of motorcyclists showed up for the 3rd Mayors' Big Dog Run on April 7th and raised thousands of dollars for the Glendale Community College Veterans Scholarship Fund.

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers led participants through the University of Phoenix Stadium, down the runway at Luke Air Force Base and around the racetrack at ISM Raceway.

New on “Glendale Today” – Mayor Jerry Weiers Profiles the City's Charitable Grant Program "From the Heart"
Mayor Jerry Weiers takes a close-up look at the city’s popular “From the Heart” non-profit campaign, a program for residents to donate money through their water bill to provide critical services on his new edition of the TV show “Glendale Today”.

Mayor Weiers sits down with representatives from five agencies that receive funding to show how those “From the Heart” donated dollars are lending an important helping hand to those in need in Glendale. The Mayor’s guests are: Alex Garza, Unit Director of the Boys and Girls Club; Kyle Harris, Marketing and Communications Manager for a New Leaf, a domestic violence shelter program; Regina Edwards, CEO of the Glendale YWCA; Lin Sue Cooney, Director of Community Engagement with Hospice of the Valley and Cindy Vargo, the Central Region Director for the Alzheimer’s Association, Desert Southwest Chapter.

Viewers learn how these organizations provide essential services, strengthen families and promote positive youth development.

Mayor Jerry Weiers Takes Viewers Sky High Over The City
On this new edition of “Glendale Today”, Mayor Jerry Weiers takes the controls to fly viewers over some of Glendale’s most notable landmarks. Mayor Weirs, a longtime pilot, also highlights some of Glendale Municipal Airport’s key services, discusses the important role the airport plays in the community and encourages residents to visit and get involved in its aviation success. Guests on the show include Lt. Col. Linda Yeager of the Civil Air Patrol, who talks about search and rescue operations and youth development programs provided by the all-volunteer 388th Composite Wing; Tito Suazo, owner of Aerosim Aviation which offers aircraft rentals and flight instruction, who speaks about why the Glendale Municipal Airport is such a great place to learn how to fly; Carl Brandenburg of Glendale Aero Services highlights the fueling and concierge services for jet traffic including the Super Bowl and Ken Potts who oversees the Glendale Airport, discusses aviation resources. Viewers also discover the Something Special Aviation Café and unique items at the pilot shop.
