GreenCouncil Sustainability Committee

The Glendale City Council formed the Council Sustainability Committee at the June 2, 2009 Council Workshop. Vice Mayor Steven Frate, Councilmember Yvonne Knaack and former Councilmember David Goulet and were appointed to sit on the committee. At that time, Mayor Elaine Scruggs recognized the committee would need to work with staff to develop the appropriate rules for the committee and directed staff to provide an update on the committee at a future workshop meeting. The first Council Sustainability Committee meeting was held on September 15, 2009 at the West Area Water Reclamation Facility. The Councilmembers began by nominating a chair for the committee, appointing Councilmember David Goulet to the position. Currently, Vice Mayor Frate is committee chair.

The following mission statement was adopted by the Council Sustainability Committee:

Mission Statement: Environmental, Social and Economic Sustainability

The Sustainability Committee of the Glendale City Council will research, conduct outreach, discuss, analyze and recommend a unifying course of action entailing three core areas of Environmental Responsibility, Social Responsibility and Economic Responsibility. Within these three core areas are a series of goals to be considered and from which strategies can be developed to achieve the goals.
