Glendale Glitters Kicks off Friday Nov. 24th, 2017
This award-winning festival is one of the best-loved events for Arizona families year after year! Visitors of all ages will delight in holiday entertainment, delectable food, hand-crafted holiday gifts, a children’s snow field and petting zoo, shopping and, of course, visits with Jolly Ol’ St. Nick.
Glendale’s award-winning holiday lighting event has become a family tradition across the Valley
The stunning display of 1.6 million LED lights will illuminate sixteen blocks of Historic Downtown Glendale, making it the largest free holiday light display in Arizona.
This year the Glendale Glitters celebration kicks off on Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25.
The Countdown to Glendale Glitters Show starts at 5:30 on Friday, Nov. 24th and at 6:00 p.m. Glendale’s Mayor and Councilmembers light up the downtwon for the first time this season…all 16 blocks, and 1.6 million lights!
The glittering magic of Glendale’s holiday light display remains lit nightly through Jan. 6, 2018, from 5 – 11 p.m. each evening. Historic Downtown Glendale is located at 58th and Glendale avenues. For more information on additional holiday festivals, call the Special Event Hotline at 623-930-2299.
PARKING: For Glendale Glitters Spectacular and the Holiday weekends is available throughout the downtown area. Event attendees will have the option and convenience of paying for preferred parking in the two downtown garages, located at City Hall, at 59th and Glenn Drive and Bank of America Building, at 58th and Glenn Drives.*
For Glendale Glitters Spectacular Weekend only (November 24-25, 2017), a FREE shuttle service is offered from Glendale Community College. Check back for more info in November
*note the Bank of America parking garage will be closed on Saturday, December 2, 2017
PLEASE NOTE: Handicapped parking is available at no charge in the two parking garages, with either handicapped placard or license plate.
The holiday magic continues in downtown Glendale Friday and Saturday evenings, Dec. 1 – 16 from 6 – 10 p.m. each night, with 1.6 million dazzling lights, free admission and fun for the whole family.
Here's a summary of the details of these weekends:
With the holiday lighting season underway, the festivities will continue the first three weekends in December, Friday and Saturday evenings (Dec. 1-2; Dec. 8-9; and Dec. 15-16) between 6 and 10 p.m., offering free admission and family-friendly activities and entertainment, food and beverages, shopping in and around downtown Glendale and much more.
Some activities will change each weekend, and highlights for the weekends will include:
Dec. 1-2: Local favorite bands will perform; Peppermint James Friday and Zimis Saturday
Dec. 8-9: Snowfield! Just $2 to make a snowman, throw snowballs at your big brother or make snow angels. Don’t forget your mittens!
Dec. 15-16: Glendale Firefighters Charities will be onsite to raise money for their holiday toy/food drive, running a 50/50 raffle both Friday and Saturday evenings

What's happening on 'non-event' nights in downtown Glendale?
NEW! This year, event planners are offering a select few vendors to set up in Murphy Park on Sunday through Wednesday evenings, 6-10 p.m., for those who may be in the area enjoying the lights. In addition, some evenings will have local entertainment in the amphitheatre. These nights will happen between Nov. 26 and Dec. 20.
Besides that, throughout the downtown area, you will also find:

When gathering with the family, a meal is usually involved. Enjoy dinner and/or coffee and dessert at one of many restaurants and shops in the downtown area. Many critically-acclaimed restaurants include ethnic offerings like Italian, Polish, German and Vietnamese, and mom-and-pop establishments offer everything from authentic Mexican recipes to an old-fashioned ice cream parlor.
Still looking for those hard-to-shop-for people on your list? Downtown Glendale is home to some of the coolest boutiques and collectible stores, including one-of-a-kind items ranging from comic books to astrology to handmade jewelry and much more.
Enjoy holiday décor and more. Many shops have special holiday displays, such as the shop Bears & More, which is decorated to look like a real gingerbread house, and many indoor displays, as well.
Take your family holiday photo! What could be a better spot than Glendale Glitters? With a 30-foot Christmas tree, plus blocks and blocks of lights all around, there’s sure to be a perfect photo opportunity – no sitting fee or appointment required!
Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the quaint Catlin Court Historic District, while enjoying the lights and the crisp night air. Rides are available, for a fee, Sunday through Thursday evenings between Nov. 26-Jan. 6.
Did you know many marriage proposals have happened at Glendale Glitters? It’s the perfect place to pop the question with the horse-drawn carriage rides and quaint historic locations to create a picturesque and memorable setting.
