Cactus District - Meet Councilmember Ian Hugh
Councilmember Ian Hugh was elected in November 2012 to represent the Cactus District and was appointed in November 2012 to fill the Cactus District vacancy before beginning his term in January 2013. He previously served on the City Council from 1986-91 and was Vice Mayor from 1990-91. Hugh currently serves on Glendale’s Government Services Committee and the National League of Cities Community and Economic Development Policy and Advocacy Committee. Glendale Today with Councilmember Ian Hugh on Manistee Ranch
Glendale Councilmember Ian Hugh of the Cactus District takes us to one of the most historic places in Glendale, Manistee Ranch. One of Councilmember Hugh’s guests is Louis “Buzz” Sands, whose family lived in the home which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Other guests include the President of the Glendale Historical Society, Ron Short, and the Vice President of the Glendale Historical Society, Carol St. Clair. The show is filmed on location in one of Manistee Ranch’s four buildings on four acres, which can be visited by anyone who wants a taste of Glendale history. Watch Video
Beginning Sept. 24, City Council Meetings to Start at 6 p.m.
The Glendale City Council voted at their Aug. 13 meeting to change the start time for evening city council meetings from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. This change will begin with the Sept. 24 council meeting. Read more | Watch Video

More than 50 middle and high school youths gathered recently at Apollo High School for a Youth Town Hall hosted by Glendale Councilmembers Norma Alvarez and Ian Hugh. This event featured guest speakers and activities designed to engage them to look forward and to get active in their communities as leaders. Watch video
