Glendale Youth Sports Closing Ceremonies July 16th

Registration for flag football has ended. 

This recreational but fast-paced 5-on-5 flag football league is for boys and girls ages 7-12. The program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in limited contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork. The league teaches the fundamentals of football offense and defensive plays, rules and sportsmanship.

Games are held on Saturdays, September 29 - November 17 and are played at Sahuaro Ranch Park at the NE/NW Multi-purpose soccer fields. Game times are usually between the hours of 8:30am and 3:30pm.

Fees: $55 for Glendale residents, $75 for nonresidents. ($10 late fee added after August 18th).  If you register online by clicking the red REGISTER button above, you will receive a 10% discount off of the registration fee.

Participants will receive a team shirt, up to 8 games and a participation award.

Age categories are based on the child’s age as of 9/29/18.

Registration is held July 16-August 17. Late registration is held August 18-24.  No registrations will be accepted after 5pm on August 24. Participants will be placed on a waiting list after the registration deadline.

Practices will begin the week of September 10th, if enough volunteers have signed up to coach.  Practices are generally held in the evenings during the week and the day and time is determined by the coach.

Be a Volunteer Coach! our award-winning youth sports program! Indicate your desire to coach when signing up your child. (Note: This does not guarantee a coaching position). Those who do not have children in the league are also welcome to apply! Click here to download an application.


  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Complete a coach’s application and submit it to the Parks & Recreation office, 5970 W. Brown St., by current season registration deadline.
  3. Be fingerprinted and have an FBI background check.
  4. Attend a mandatory coaches meeting.
  5. Attend the Youth Sports Coaches training class or online NYSCA program.
  6. Adhere to the City of Glendale’s coach’s Code of Conduct and department philosophy, “The outcome of the child is more important than the outcome of the game.”
