ASU Startup School is a 6-part series designed to help entrepreneurs learn the fundamentals of entrepreneurship. At the end of this series, entrepreneurs will be able to express their ideas with an excellently crafted elevator pitch, have completed a Business Model Canvas, have built and identified a customer base as well as understand the cost and revenue needed to be successful. Finally, you will be shown how this will translate into a business plan. See below for class descriptions.
  Startup School Stage 1 (From Idea to Profit)
Session 1 covers an overview of the process from Idea to Profit.

  • By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
    • understand the process and phases of Startup School
    • be able to differentiate your "Why?"
    • understand the commitment to this course
    • understand why ASU has invested in these resources
    • understand how to increase your success as a startup entrepreneur
  Startup School Stage 2 (It All Starts with Ideas)
Session 2 covers an overview of testing student ideas, practicing the simplified business model canvas, learning the business model canvas and value proposition canvas.

  • By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
    • understand the business model canvas
    • define the value proposition in your business model
    • share who your customers are and what’s important to them

Startup School Stage 3 (Find Your Customer)
Session 3 covers an overview of the customer and students learn the customer discovery process.

Session 4 covers an overview of the product and students develop a minimum viable product.

    • prototype your minimum viable product to further understand what you are creating
    • validate your minimum viable product with your customer
    • share your minimum viable product

Session 5 covers the key components of profitable companies and helps students take the business model canvas into a business plan.
