August 2013:

The city of Glendale is very pleased with the announcement from the National Hockey League (NHL) that IceArizona Acquisition Co., LLC has finalized its purchase of the team. The city is looking forward to working with IceArizona to continue the long-term presence and success of the Coyotes in Glendale.

City Statement: As we move forward, the city and team will focus on building momentum for this season by welcoming new and returning fans to Glendale's Sports and Entertainment District and supporting the many shops and restaurants that make up this important economic engine for the city. We want to thank the dedicated fans for their ongoing support of the team and the city of Glendale. As the anchor tenant for Jobing.com Arena, the Coyotes play more than 40 home games in our city that annually attract more than 500,000 fans and we are looking forward to many successful years ahead.

Glendale, AZ - Glendale 11 VIDEO: Members of Glendale City Council React to the Coyotes Sale Finalization

The arena in Glendale has been home to the Coyotes for the last 10 years and the new agreement allows for the team to continue playing in the city, keeps current arena revenues intact and provides new revenue for the city. As the anchor tenant for Jobing.com Arena, the Coyotes NHL schedule includes more than 40 home games that annually attract more than 500,000 fans.  Activity from these games generates sales tax revenue at the arena, as well as from numerous surrounding restaurants, hotels and retail shops. Since 2009, when the previous owner of the team unexpectedly filed for bankruptcy, the city has worked diligently with the NHL to find a solution that protects Glendale’s investment in the sports and entertainment district and keeps the team in our city. The vote by the Glendale City Council brings a resolution to this issue and is welcome news to Westgate businesses and hockey fans who attended the council meeting to voice their support for the decision.  The city looks forward to the 2013-2014 hockey season where the NHL’s Coyotes will continue to play in their home at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale.

Sept. 30, 2009 - Statement from city of Glendale regarding ruling by Judge Baum
Throughout this process, the city of Glendale has been committed to protecting the best interests of its citizens, business owners and taxpayers by ensuring the team’s presence in Glendale. After an initial review, Glendale believes today’s ruling by Judge Baum supports these efforts in three key areas:
     - Denies the bid submitted by Jim Balsille on behalf of PSE, which would have moved the
        team out of Glendale
     - Protects the right of the NHL
     - Provides an opportunity for the NHL to re-submit its bid, which Glendale believes in is in
the best interest of the team and the city
Glendale is extremely pleased that the court has denied the bid that would have moved the team and pending further legal analysis of the ruling, looks forward to working with the NHL to keep the Coyotes playing in Glendale, Arizona for years to come.

Sept. 11, 2009 - City of Glendale Statement Regarding Judge Baum’s Request for Clarification of Bids
The city of Glendale respects Judge Baum’s efforts to clarify all terms of the existing bids. These clarifications, which are due to the court on Tuesday, are an important component to moving forward in this process. We are optimistic that  these clarifications will facilitate the identification of a buyer who will keep the team in Glendale.

June 15 , 2009 - Statement from the city of Glendale Regarding Coyotes:
Glendale is extremely pleased with Judge Baum's ruling. Clearly, the Court recognized the significance of these issues and the unique interests of the City of Glendale and its taxpayers. The court based its decision on the law and facts and not on countless rumors and innuendo regarding this matter. The City has always fulfilled its obligations and will continue to do so within the law and consistent with strong public policy.

This establishes that professional hockey is viable in the Valley and as stated earlier tonight in a written statement, the NHL is committed to the team remaining in Glendale, AZ. We are anxious to begin working in earnest with the Coyotes' new ownership and the National Hockey League to protect our community's investment and deliver a quality product for loyal Coyotes fans.
