Glendale, AZ – 2011-12 Budget Website

Welcome to the city of Glendale’s 2011-12 budget website. This site’s purpose is to inform citizens about budget adjustment proposals being considered for the 2011-12 fiscal year operating budget.

The City Council will begin annual budget workshop meetings in March, and the final budget is expected to be adopted by the council in May.

Proposed schedule for adoption of the FY 2012 budget and property tax levy, per requirements in state statutes, is as follows:

No final budget decisions will be made until the final balancing meeting on either April 5th or 19th, and the Council will provide staff direction at the meeting.

  • Q: Will there be an increase to water, sewer or sanitation rates? 
    A: Currently, city staff is proposing that there be no rate increase to water, sewer or sanitation for the 2011-2012 budget.
  • Q: What is the total General Fund operating budget? 
    A: The fiscal year 2011 operating budget for the general fund only is $147 million.
  • Q: What has the city done the past few years with its budget?
    A: Each year, by law, the city is required to adopt a balanced budget. The city has had three consecutive years of budget reductions resulting in a balanced budget each time. The city’s goal with budget reductions is to minimize the impact to services and programs to the community and to stay focused on strategic goals set by the City Council.
