FREE Green Living Series:

FREE Seed Library

The Valley Permaculture Alliance (VPA) Seed Library aims to increase biodiversity of locally adapted seeds in the Valley of the Sun by providing open pollinated heirloom seeds, encouraging people to garden, and sharing knowledge of seed saving and permaculture. Come and select up to 3 packets of free seeds, and then once you harvest seeds you can return them to us as well. The Seed Library is held on the second Saturday of the month, starting in January 2015, at the Glendale Main Library’s lobby (5959 W. Spring 2015 Glendale Green Living Series

Get inspired, informed and save on energy and water. The Glendale Conservation & Sustainable Living Office offers a Green Living series of free classes in the spring and fall. Green Living classes take place in the Auditorium at the Glendale Main Library (5959 W. Brown St.). Register at 623-930-3760 or wsimonson@glendaleaz.com.

Simple Savings Energy Class
Wednesday, February 11th | 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Attend this class to get advice on simple ways to save energy and receive $75 in energy-saving devices*. You must be a Glendale resident to receive the devices. 

*Devices funded by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.

Glendale Garden Gathering*
Saturday, March 28th | 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. – Gardeners Gone Wild! Hear from two Glendale homeowners about how they developed their own desert-friendly yards to attract pollinators, including birds and butterflies. They did it, so can you!
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Create a Beautiful Yard with Native Plants. Learn how to create an attractive, colorful and water-smart landscape with native plants.

Attendees to receive a free low-water-use plant after attending a class. Plants available on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Funded by the Arizona Game and Fish Department Heritage Fund.
