Learn How to Create a Green Landscape this Fall

With cooler temperatures approaching, fall is the ideal time for homeowners to go green and look at ways to reduce their water and energy consumption.

“Visiting the Glendale Xeriscape Demonstration Garden is a great way to get ideas on how to create a water-efficient landscape,” said Joanne Toms, water conservation specialist. “Water Conservation staff will be offering a walking tour at the garden in November that will allow residents to get up close with a variety of desert-adapted plants.”

Find out how to maintain an attractive, yet environmentally-friendly landscape by attending one or more of the following free classes offered to homeowners by the city of Glendale Water Conservation Office:

  • Sept. 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - How to Set Your Water Timer
  • Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Proper Care of Desert Lawns
  • Oct. 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Desert Vegetable Gardening Made Easy
  • Oct. 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. - Pruning of Trees and Shrubs
  • November 4th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Earth Friendly Backyard
  • November 7th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. - Garden Walk and Talk

All classes will be held at the Glendale Main Library, 5959 W. Brown Street. To register, call 623-930-3760.
