Arizona is a walker’s paradise, so why not take advantage of it. You can get some exercise, spend quality time with friends and family, or run errands. This is not only beneficial to your health but also the quality of our environment. Throughout Glendale there are many walkways, hiking paths and parks to get some exercise or just enjoy time with family and friends.

5 Safety Walking Tips

  1. Walk on the side walk. This is the safest way to walk. If you have to walk on the shoulder of a road always face oncoming traffic.

  2. Be visible when walking. Wearing bright colors will help you to be seen. At night wearing something reflective or walking with a little flashlight would be beneficial.

  3. When crossing the street only cross at corners unless, walking through a designated cross walk area. Look left and right, then left again before crossing. Obey the pedestrian signal at intersections, not the traffic signal.

  4. Use caution around parked cars, especially when stepping from between parked cars.

  5. Be aware at all times and always expect the unexpected!
