Transit - Taxi Subsidy Program

The City of Glendale is pleased to provide a taxi-subsidy for persons with special transportation needs. The program is designed to assist people making repetitive trips for medical treatments and therapies.

Who is eligible?

Glendale residents who receive qualifying physician ordered repetitive medical treatments and therapies such as dialysis, cancer treatments, and therapy following a stroke.

Where do my trips begin and end?

Vouchers are preaddressed to two locations. The first is your home and the second is the medical treatment centers within the City of Glendale.

How much do I pay?

The City of Glendale pays ¾ or 75% of one-way taxi fare, up to $15.00 per trip. You pay ¼ or 25% of the fare. The City will also pay 15% for gratuity (up to $2.50 per trip).

How are riders arranged?

Participants in the program call a taxi or van company of their choice from a list or participating companies and arrange their own rides. Participants are free to change taxi companies at any time.

How do I get the vouchers?

For dialysis, the social worker at your center will supply vouchers. For medical trips, vouchers will be mailed directly to your home.

How do I use the vouchers?

At the time of each trip, participants present a voucher to the driver. Each voucher indicates that it pays ¾ of the fare up to $15.00. The participant is then responsible for 25% of the charges plus any fare over the $15.00 limit. The vouchers are signed by both the participant and the taxi driver, who then submits the voucher to taxi company.
