Why is Glendale Doing This?

The West Valley has hundreds of thousands of students of all ages who will need jobs one day, hundreds of businesses in need of skilled workers, and an increasing demand of citizens in need of better workforce education and jobs. This initiative is important for several reasons near and dear to the city's Economic Development Department’s focus:

• Workforce: Employers need a skilled workforce pipeline, and many want the talent and cannot find it locally. It must be built.
• Community Engagement: This is a crucial city of Glendale community endeavor to pull together for a common cause aimed at STEM education and workforce.
• Business Attraction: Our actions showcase our priorities. We care about both our existing employers and about attracting new, high-paying and innovative employers and want to demonstrate that we care about growing a talent pipeline for them.
