Assignment Pay
Police Officers and Police Sergeants assigned to work any of the following special assignments (Bomb Squad, Field Training Officer, K-9, SWAT) will be compensated above their normal salary.
Ballistic Vest Allowance
Officers receive $1,000.00 to purchase their initial vest and every 5 years to purchase a replacement vest in addition to the annual uniform allowance.
Bilingual Incentive Pay
$75/month (regular/frequent Interaction) or $35/month (occasional interaction) for those whose department determines a need exists for bilingual skills and who pass a competency examination. Officers and Sergeants receive $100 per month.
Department Provided Equipment
The Glendale Police Department provides its officers with all necessary equipment needed to perform the functions of a Police Officer.
Full Salary Range – Police Officer
The salary range for Police Officer is currently under review. Updated information will be posted when it’s available.
PSUM
Effective each pay period following July 1, 2006, each Sworn Represented Employee will receive an additional 1% of wages paid in that period, which shall be in addition to the Represented Employee’s wages, and which shall be deposited into a deferred compensation account established by the employee with either ICMA-RC or Nationwide Investment Services.
Shift Differential Pay
$0.50/hr when 50% of the total hours worked falls between 4:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
$0.60/hr when 50% of the total hours worked falls between 12:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Shift differential pay applies to all the hours worked, not just the hours during covered periods
Standby/Standby Court
Unrestricted Standby Pay - $2.00 per hour for each hour on standby.
Restricted Standby Pay - Compensated at their base rate of pay for each hour on standby.
4/10 Hour Work Schedule
Patrol officers work 4 days a week for 10 hours each shift. Officers are given a 30 minute paid lunch break and a 15 minute paid break.
