City of Glendale - Police

Message from the Chief

Chief Steven Conrad Steven Conrad
Chief of Police

The mission of the Glendale Police Department is to protect the lives and property of the people we serve.  The men and women of the department are fully committed to this mission.  We are equally committed to the four “basics” of policing:

Crime Prevention – Our primary function is to prevent crime.  Officers must be in the right places, at the right times, doing the right things.  Officers are encouraged to have a sense of “ownership” for their beats.  We need to employ directed tactics rather than depending on random patrol to solve neighborhood problems.

Crime Control – When crime does occur, we are committed to responding appropriately.  We always attempt to conduct thorough and complete investigations.  We analyze crime and constantly shift resources as needed to respond to emerging trends.

Community Involvement –
As a department, we realize that we cannot address crime problems in this community alone.  We have a duty and a responsibility to involve members of the community in matters that impact upon the quality of their lives.  We constantly work to renew and develop new community bonds to ensure that the people most impacted by crime have a voice in identifying and resolving problems in their neighborhoods.

Fair and Equitable Treatment – Finally, all members of our department are committed to the goal of earning and working to maintain the public’s trust.  We strive to treat everyone with the respect and dignity they deserve.

Our department is ever-changing and growing along with our city.  We heartily embrace the challenges and opportunities that come with this growth.  We have set high expectations for ourselves, and what we can collectively achieve.

If you are interested in learning more about our city or our department, I encourage you to contact us today, or look through the rest of the Police intranet pages for information on volunteering, our Explorer program for young adults interested in law enforcement, and other areas of community interest.
