STREET RACING ENFORCEMENT
CAMPAIGN RESULTS IN OVER 100 ARRESTS
GLENDALE, Ariz. – On Friday, (1/6), and Saturday, (1/7), evening, the Glendale Police Department hosted a multi-agency street racing enforcement campaign with Peoria and Phoenix Police.
Over 100 people were arrested as a result of the street racing enforcement campaign. A total of 45 suspects were arrested for being caught in the act of street racing by officers in Glendale, Peoria and Phoenix. Over 55 other suspects were arrested for criminal speed, DUI, warrants, juvenile curfew, aggravated assault on police and possession of drugs and weapons. Those who were arrested for street racing, criminal speed and DUI had the vehicles towed and impounded. There were four suspects arrested for driving more than 100 mph, with the fastest speed being 114mph.
A total of 400 citations were issued which included, equipment violations, no insurance, and red light running.
According to the event coordinator Sgt. Julie Love, “This operation proved to be a huge success with the partnership between the three police departments and the tremendous assistance from members of detention, dispatch, records and motorist assist.”
These street-racing enforcements will continue on a regular basis in the City of Glendale.
