Missing Man Located

Sam Bonacorsi, an elderly man who was reported missing Wednesday (9/19), has been located and returned to his home in north Glendale. He was found yesterday (9/20) by a man in northeast Phoenix, who then returned Sam to his family by meeting them at a halfway point. Sam was not harmed, nor was he victimized in any way.

Detective Mario Sanchez learned that Sam went to Arrowhead Mall to have his glasses repaired. Leaving the mall, he got on the wrong bus, which took him over to northeast Phoenix. Sam had some difficulty trying to catch a bus back to Glendale, so he opted to spend the night in a hotel. At around noon yesterday, a man found Sam walking near 21st Street and Cave Creek Road. He sensed that Sam was lost and assisted him. He was able to find a telephone number to one of Sam’s neighbors, who put him in touch with Sam’s family. They all met near 51st Avenue and the Loop 101, where Sam was reunited with his family.

The identity of the man who helped Sam is not known, but everyone involved is grateful for his willingness to help Sam.

Missing and Endangered Elderly Man

Missing and Endangered Elderly ManThe Glendale Police Department is asking for help in locating a 67 year-old man who has been missing since about 8:30 a.m. this morning. A photo of the man is to the right.

Sam Bonacorsi lives in the 17300 block of north 64th Lane, in Glendale. Sam went for a walk at about 8:30 this morning and never returned. Sam leads a very structured life, and it is highly unusual for him to be gone for so long. Sam has bi-polar disorder and, although he took his medication this morning, will be due for his next dose tomorrow. If he does not take his medicine, he will become nervous and jittery, and may become unstable.

Sam is a 67 year-old white male. He is 5 foot 4 inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. He is bald and wears glasses. He does not drive. Sam was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a dark colored ball cap, probably the one shown in the photo.

There is no evidence of foul play associated with Sam’s disappearance, but he is being treated as a missing and endangered adult. Anyone with information about Sam is asked to call the Glendale Police at 623-930-3000.
