On November 5, 1978 at 2:15 P.M. Glendale Police Officers went to the Valley National Bank at 9208 N 43 Ave when a citizen called reporting a shooting victim lying outside the business. Officers found Thomas McIntyre lying on the ground outside the night deposit box of the bank suffering from obvious gunshot wounds. Forty-seven year old Thomas McIntyre was the manager of the Vickers Gas Station at 43 Ave and Northern Ave. Thomas went to the bank to make a deposit of a large amount of money from the business. After parking his car and getting out to approach the night deposit drop door, a male subject who was holding a handgun confronted Thomas. Thomas resisted giving the subject the money from the deposit and several shots were fired.
Witnesses in the area can only describe a male subject of an unknown race seen running from the bank after the shots were fired. Thomas was a long time manager of local gas stations in the Metro area. Several family members who lived in the area survived Thomas. Family members have been distraught over the death of Thomas and frustrated by the fact to this day no witness has stepped forward with information to identify the suspect in his death.
