Winter Rose Pruning
8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Elsie McCarthy Sensory Garden, 7637 N. 55th Ave. Come join the Commission on Persons with Disabilities through a Partner N Parks project as they tend the garden. Volunteers will prune sixty rose bushes throughout the morning. Experts will be on hand to demonstrate proper pruning technique and to give advice on rose care. Tools will be available! Designed to stimulate the senses of sight, sound, smell and touch through the use of specific plants and trees for texture and scent; water features for sound, touch and sight; and evening lighting for dramatic visuals, the Elsie McCarthy Sensory Garden is one of Glendale's treasures.
