YOUTH LEAGUES

raquetballJunior Racquetball League
Starts July 11, $25 R /$33 NR 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (3-TU/TH) Class #: 313205-01 (Ages 10-15) Learn the game of racquetball in a fun environment. Instructor will share rules, tips and teach kids and teens how to play against other players. Each day will build on the previous skills learned. Participants should come dressed in workout clothes with tennis shoes and bring racquet and goggles. Racquetballs are provided. Call Sean at 623-930-4608 for more information.

Youth Kickball Fall League

This league emphasizes physical fitness, equal participation and social and skill development.  Games start on September 30th, and will be held on Saturdays, and offered at two locations: Kachina Elementary School, 5304 W. Crocus, Glendale 85306 (the field is located on the east side of the school) and Rose Lane ballfield, 51st Ave. and Marlette, Glendale 85301. Players must register for the division of play in which they are eligible.

Fees: $55 (resident) or $75 (non-resident).  The fee includes a team shirt and up to 8 games.

Practices can begin the week of Sept 18th if enough parents and volunteers show an interest in coaching.  The practice location, day and time is determined by the volunteer coach.  Most practices are any day, Monday through Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30pm and no more than twice a week.

If you are interested in coaching, please indicate it when you register your child.

Be a Volunteer Coach!

...in our award-winning youth sports program! Indicate your desire to coach when signing up your child. (Note: This does not guarantee a coaching position). Those who do not have children in the league are also welcome to apply! Click here to download an application.

Qualifications:

  1. Be at least 18 years old.
  2. Complete a coach’s application and submit it to the Parks & Recreation office, 5970 W. Brown St., by current season registration deadline.
  3. Be fingerprinted and have an FBI background check.
  4. Attend a mandatory coaches meeting.
  5. Attend the Youth Sports Coaches training class or online NYSCA program.
  6. Adhere to the City of Glendale’s coach’s Code of Conduct and department philosophy, “The outcome of the child is more important than the outcome of the game.”

Sponsors Needed!

Merchants, companies and organizations – sponsor a team and receive your business name printed on a banner at the sports complex, recognition throughout the program, your own team shirt and a sponsor’s plaque.
