Parks and Recreation - Regional Park Projects

Western Area Regional Park
83rd Ave. & Bethany Home Rd.

This project is for the development of an 88-acre regional park and municipal buildings. The entire development will include an urban fishing lake, baseball/softball fields, two multi-use fields, tennis courts, dog park, parking (1,000+ spaces), landscaping, playgrounds, picnic ramadas, trail, park amenities & infrastructure, skate court, restrooms, and splash pad.

Phase I includes the basketball courts, ramada, tot lot, restroom, splash pad, skate court, small parking lot, landscaping, and infrastructure. The only remaining scope item for this phase is the construction of the skate court and concession building.

Phase II includes park infrastructure, such as water and sewer, electrical, road surfacing, site grading, minimal landscaping and an electrical/restroom building to ready the site for future park development.

Phase III includes the design and construction of a large ramada pavillion that will accommodate large meetings and gatherings. Other amenities and infrastructure includes landscape, sand volleyball courts and play structure.

Sahuaro Ranch Park

Completion of farm buildings in the Sahuaro Ranch Park Historic Area. Construct a farm implement building and additional restrooms to be used for housing museum collections, special events, retreats and parties. Staff has engaged an architectural firm to facilitate the design phase.

Older Park Renovation
Rose Lane Park
This project includes the renovation of an older park as prioritized by the Parks and Recreation Commission. Upgrades may include turf and landscape, renovated irrigation systems, sport court repairs, new playgrounds with shade covers, pathways, picnic ramadas and security lighting. The park improvements are being prioritized with neighborhood requests and turned over to the consultants to draft final plans and contract documents. Construction is expected in the fall.
