Glendale Administrative Holiday Closure Information Dec. 23-27

City of Glendale offices will be closed for the upcoming holidays: half day on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and all day Wednesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday, as well as Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday.

This year, an additional closure will mean that most administrative functions within the city will be closed the entire week of Dec. 23-27. A complete list of all city facilities hours of operations can be found below.

All households’ scheduled garbage and recycling will be shifted one day due to the holidays, from Mondays to Tuesdays, and so on. The Glendale Municipal Landfill will close early on Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) at noon, and will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Valley Metro will be running a holiday schedule (Sunday service hours) on Tuesday, Dec. 24, Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1. Gus 1 will be running a Sunday schedule (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) on both Tuesday and Wednesday (Dec. 24-25). Gus 2 and 3 will be running until noon on Dec. 24 but will not run on Dec. 25. Gus 1 only will be running a Sunday schedule (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) on New Year’s Day. For Dial a Ride service on Dec. 24 or 25, reservations should be made by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24, as the office will close at noon and reopen on Dec. 26. ADA service will be available both days; callers will be able to leave a message with their request and will be contacted by staff to confirm. For Dial a Ride service on Jan. 1, reservations should be made by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Reservations can be made by calling Glendale’s Transit Division at 623-930-3500.

While the Glendale Municipal Airport will remain open during these holidays, the airport’s administrative office will offer limited service until 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Glendale Convention & Visitors Bureau will close at noon on Dec. 24 and be closed Dec. 25, but open with normal operating hours the rest of the week.

Glendale’s Foothills Recreations and Aquatics Center will be open on Christmas Eve from 7 a.m. to noon, closed on Dec. 25 and open on Dec. 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center will also be open on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, from 5:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Jan. 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information on the Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center, call 623-930-4600. The Glendale Adult Center will be closed the week of Dec. 23-27. In addition, Glendale’s three public libraries will be closed the entire week of Dec. 23-27, as well as Jan. 1.

Airport - terminal will be open to the public, with limited administrative services, until approximately 7 p.m. on Dec. 24 and will reopen Dec. 26 at 5:30 a.m.

Building Safety – closed (City Hall)

Bank of America building (Communications, Fire, Transportation) - closed

City Clerk –closed (City Hall)

City Court – operational only for Jail Court; not open to the public. Court fines can be paid online at https://www.glendaleaz.com/court/payments/ or www.azcourtpay.com during the closure of December 23 through December 27, 2013.

Code Compliance/Community Revit./Housing – closed (City Hall)

Communications – closed (BofA)

Community Action Program (CAP) Office – CAP will be open the following hours:
Dec 23 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dec. 24 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 25 CLOSED Dec. 26 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Dec. 27 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Water Customer Service (water/sewer/sanitation billing) - closed (City Hall and Customer Relations phones).  To start/stop service; 24/7 emergency water services available by calling the After Hours number: 623-930-3190. To PAY or VIEW water bills online (www.glendaleaz.com) or over the phone (623-930-3639) during that week.

Development Services Center (Building Safety, permits) - closed (City Hall)

Dial-a-Ride - normal services, contact dispatch at 623-930-3500; Transit dispatch office will close at noon on the Dec. 24, reopening Thursday, Dec. 26. Trips for the afternoon of the 12/24 and 12/25 must be scheduled by noon on Dec. 24.

Engineering - Offices are closed to the public, however right-of-way inspection services can be scheduled or emergencies reported by calling 602-919-1932.

Fire Department (administrative offices will be closed); For emergencies, call 911

Human Resources & Risk Management closed (City Hall)

Parks, Recreation & Library Services

 All three branches of the library will be closed Dec. 23-27
 Adult Center – including Parks & Recreation service counter will be closed Dec. 23-27
 The Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Center will be open with adjusted hours:
Dec 23 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Dec. 24 7 a.m.-noon Dec. 25 CLOSED Dec. 26 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 27 5:30 a.m.-9 p.m.

Planning & Zoning | Historic Preservation – closed (City Hall)

Police Department - (administrative offices will be closed); For emergencies, call 911 or non-emergency matters should be directed to 623-930-3000. For additional information, click here.

Right-of-Way closed; stand-by personnel available for any right-of-way issues - call the Public Service Representative at 623-934-7551.

Sanitation/Recycling (administrative offices will be closed) Service will be provided as normal; however, residents’ pick-up day will shift due to the Christmas holiday Dec. 25

The Landfill will be open to the public, outside of the holidays, with hours:
Dec. 23 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 24 7:30 a.m.-noon (half day) Dec. 25 CLOSED Dec. 26 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 27 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Transportation Services (BofA building) – (administrative offices closed) Emergency road or traffic signal issues can be reported to the Police Department at 623-930-3000;
