MESSAGE REGARDING UPDATE OF POOL DRAINS
A new federal law requires renovations to drainage systems on all public pools and spas. As a result of the new law, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has required all public pool and spa operators to inspect their drain systems and bring them into compliance. The city of Glendale would like to stress to residents that our public pools are a safe place to swim.
The city is currently working with a commercial pool construction company to ensure that the drains will meet the new law’s compliance requirements in coming months. Glendale’s aquatics facilities have either been newly constructed or renovated, and as such, have newer filtration and circulation systems with multiple drains that do not pose the potential risks to swimmers as older single-drain pool systems.
