Community Conversations with Mayor Elaine Scruggs
Mayor Elaine Scruggs believes that citizen participation is a cornerstone of effective local government. Government leaders are best able to represent the interests of their residents if they have consistent communication with all community members and are aware of their concerns.
It was this belief that inspired Mayor Scruggs to create Community Conversations, a series of town-hall style meetings that take place each spring and each fall in different locations throughout Glendale. Community Conversations provide a forum to discuss the important policy issues that shape Glendale’s present and future. They also provide a setting for attendees to visit informally with other Glendale citizens who strive to make the city the best that it can be.
During these meetings, Mayor Scruggs listens closely to what is on the minds of Glendale citizens. She also shares important information about topics that residents indicate are most important to them. Hundreds of Glendale citizens recently participated in the fall series of meetings that included open and honest discussions with Mayor Scruggs about the most important issues facing the city. Valuable information was shared at these meetings and this information has been divided up by topic and provided below.
