This hammer was given to Mayor Scruggs as a memento of the dedication of the 2002 West Valley Child Crisis Center. The Mayor served on the capital campaign to raise the necessary funds to build the Center, which serves as a safe place to call home for children up to the age of 11 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or because their parents were unable to care for them. The organization’s Glendale Kids Campus houses several residences, a medical facility, an enrichment center and a play area for kids.
