We Have the Best Friends -- and a Prize to Prove It!
National Award Honors Friends of the Library
We're proud to announce that the Friends of the Glendale Public Library recently won a United for Libraries’ 2016 National Friends of Libraries Week Award and $250 prize. The American Library Association's press release cites the GPL Friends as one of only two groups nationwide to receive this recognition. The Friends "have helped develop successful library programs, raised money for special equipment, helped connect with city leaders, and engaged library customers with ALA’s Libraries Transform Campaign." Some of the most iconic characters in pop culture appear to help bring attention to this benefit project, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and even Harry Potter. New All-in-One Service
All three Glendale Public Library locations now feature the Bibliotheca SmartServe 1000 — a self-check machine that allows you to pay fines and fees with cash or credit. These new, user-friendly machines allow for:
faster, more convenient check-out.
more privacy and greater security when paying fines.
shorter lines at the service desks.
more staffing at service desks.
You will still be able to pay your fine by credit or debit card, or by check, at all of the Adult Service Desks. Adding the Bibliotheca SmartServe 1000 will not result in any reduction in staff at the library, but will allow us to provide better and more efficient service to you. If you have any questions about the new Bibliotheca SmartServe machines, feel free to ask a member of our staff.
