What does a circulation volunteer do?
Depending on the library, a volunteer working in this area would issue new library cards, check materials in and out, enter patron data into the library system and check library card applications for accuracy. This job may also include shelving media, putting library carts in order, cleaning and performing simple mending on materials, helping with overdue and hold notices and assisting circulation staff. At Foothills Branch Library, a volunteer may help borrowers use the express check system. Other duties that may also be assigned in the circulation area.

When would a circulation volunteer work?
Days and times volunteered are dependent on the library's needs and the availability of the volunteer, but are usually scheduled as follows:
Circulation volunteers at the Main Library are scheduled to work any day the library is open for a 3 hour period.
Circulation volunteers at the Foothills Library are scheduled to work any day the library is open for a 3 hour period.
Circulation volunteers at the Velma Teague Library are scheduled to work during open hours, Monday-Friday, for a 3 hour period. Please call for Saturday volunteer opportunities.
