Authors @ the Teague
Wednesday, November 3, 11:00 AM
Velma Teague Branch Library
Author Hilary Davidson will discuss and sign her debut crime novel, The Damage Done, during November's first Authors @ the Teague event.
Travel writer Lily Moore returns from Spain after her drug-addicted younger sister Claudia is found dead in Lily's bathtub - on the anniversary of their mother's suicide, no less - only to find that it isn't her sister after all. Who stole Claudia’s identity? Who's involved in her disappearance? Where is she, and did she have anything to do with the murder? Most importantly, can Lily herself survive the quest for answers? Davidson hones a complex plot and cast of characters into a “razor sharp mystery debut.” (Publishers Weekly)
Davidson has won the 2009 Watery Grave Invitational short crime story competition for "Beast," and the 2010 Spinetingler Award for Best Short Story for "Insatiable." She is the author of 18 nonfiction books, including some Frommer's guides, and has been published in more than 40 magazines. In 2008, she founded the Gluten-Free Guidebook website for gluten-intolerant travelers like herself. According to her website, as a travel writer, Hilary has explored "the cemeteries of New Orleans, Pompeii's brothels, and Bangkok's seedy night markets." A lover of "vintage clothing, classic Hollywod movies, and Art Deco design" and a former resident of Toronto, she now lives in New York.

Glendale author Toby Fesler Heathcotte will appear at the Velma Teague Branch Library to discuss and sign a selection of her books on psychic phenomena, including Out of the Psychic Closet, Luke’s Covenant, and The Comet’s Return.
When Heathcotte was seven, her best friend died -- and then she saw her ghost. In Out of the Psychic Closet, Heathcotte describes her journey from discovery to doubt to acceptance of her psychic abilities, supplemented by anecdotes, research, and history concerning psychic phenomena.
Luke’s Covenant and The Comet’s Return are books four and five in the Alma Chronicles, a sweeping fictional saga in which souls reincarnate from the ancient Celtic world to modern Arizona, "bound together in a circle of love, passion, betrayal, and murder."
Heathcotte writes books which use her lifelong studies to aid in the understanding of the paranormal. A former speech, drama, and English teacher, plus a mother of two and grandmother of three, Heathcotte is a Glendale resident and the current president of the Arizona Authors Association.
