Library - Visiting Authors

Authors @ the Teague

Peter May appears at Velma Teague LibraryThursday, May 6th, 2:00 PM
Velma Teague Branch Library

Award-winning Scottish author Peter May will discuss and sign his two new thrillers, Virtually Dead and Freeze Frame, during this Authors @ the Teague event.

In Virtually Dead, bereaved crime scene photographer Michael Kapinsky finds a link to high-stakes crime in the online virtual world of Second Life. Could his second life prove fatal to his real one? "May keeps the reader guessing while also providing an intriguing glimpse into the pleasures and pitfalls of SL." (Publishers Weekly)

Enzo Macleod is back with Freeze Frame, the fourth entry in the critically-acclaimed series starring a Scottish former forensic scientist who solves French cold cases -- all for the sake of a bet!  This time MacLeod is off to the Ile de Groix, where a man of science, murdered almost two decades ago, is said to have left mysterious clues to the identity of his own killer.  "With its intricate plot, compelling characters, and bombshell denouement, this unsettling Enzo Files installment is a must-read." ("Publishers Weekly," starred review)

Former television writer May, who currently resides in France, is notorious for his devotion to hands-on research (and for wearing kilts at the slightest provocation).  To make his books authentic, he's worked in a 3-star Michelin chef's kitchen; ventured into the sewers of France; spent a year as a virtual private eye in Second Life (with a 100% success rate); and, for his award-winning China Thrillers series, spent time behind the scenes with Beijing's homicide cops.

The program is free.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.  For more information, please call 623-930-3439.

Kris Neri appears at the Velma Teague LibraryAuthors @ the Teague welcomes award-winning local author Kris Neri. Owner of Sedona bookstore The Well Red Coyote, the two-time Derringer Award winner and Pushcart Prize nominee Neri specializes in zany heroines. In High Crimes on the Magical Plane, the first in a new series, fake L.A. psychic Samantha Brennan teams up with FBI Special Agent Annabelle Haggerty – who just happens to be a genuine Celtic goddess – to save a movie star, contend with some crooked clowns, and avert Armageddon along the way.

Meanwhile, the Hollywood adventures continue in the third book of the Agatha, Anthony, and Macavity Award-nominated Tracy Eaton series, Revenge for Old Times’ Sake. When her husband Drew’s accused of murder, it’s up to mystery writer Tracy to prove his innocence while dealing with the interfering antics of her larger-than-life actress mother, disapproving mother-in-law, and Drew’s ex-girlfriend.

Neri’s books will be available for purchase and signing.
