Due to time constraints and an increase in obituary requests, the Glendale Public Library has implemented the following:
Obituary Guidelines:
- You may submit email requests to eLibrarian@GlendaleAZ.com.
- Please provide a complete, accurate spelling of the individual’s first and last name, and the day, month and year of death. If the exact date of death is not known, the library cannot perform the obituary search.
- Staff can only search the Arizona Republic (1966-present), the Glendale Star (1977-2000), the Glendale News-Herald (1912-1977, and the Glendale Herald (1927-1964). No other local newspapers are available for obituary research.
- The library provides email copies of obituaries, unless a photocopy is specifically requested. For photocopies, please send complete mailing information.
- Allow ten days to three weeks for processing.
- Please limit obituary requests to two per month.
Verifying dates of death and/or searching alternative resources:
- Exact dates of death can often be verified through Social Security Death Index (www.familytreelegends.com/records/ssdi).
- Occasionally the Glendale Historical Society can verify dates of death. Contact the Society at 623-435-0072.
