GLENDALE, Ariz. – Glendale Public Library is offering the public the chance to share their views about books they have read—just like Amazon.com customers. The library has teamed up with ChiliFresh to allow book lovers to write reviews of books that they like—or do not like!
“Everyone is welcome to participate,” says Cheryl Kennedy, Library Manager. “You don’t have to have a Glendale library card to share your thoughts about books.”
Each book in the library’s catalog has a link that says, “Write a review.” A new reviewer will sign up with an e-mail address, a nickname and a password. Then he/she writes the review and gives the book a rating from one to five stars. The process is very simple, and in the future, reviewers will be able to give opinions on CDs and DVD's, too.
Not only can you share you own opinions, but you can find out what other people think about particular titles. These opinions are not only local, but international. The library has opted to add reviews from libraries in other states and countries. What better way to get recommendations of good books than from other book lovers?
To see what the reviews look like, check out these titles in the library's catalog: Marley & Me, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and The Secret Life of Bees. Now find your favorite books in our catalog and write some reviews of your own!
Adding book reviews to the library catalog is a great way to get involved with your community of readers. Everyone is invited to take part. Children, teens and adults all have opinions, and the library wants to hear from you!
