Library cards are issued at the checkout desks at the Main Library, the Foothills Branch, and the Velma Teague Branch. To begin this process right now, CLICK HERE .
Valid photo identification and proof of address are required for all new Library Cards. Children 13 and under must have a parent or legal guardian present for application. Students 14-17 can apply without a parent or guardian present. Parents/guardians will be notified by mail that the card has been issued to the student.
The card will be assigned a 4-digit PIN to use for placing holds, renewing materials, and accessing the Internet. This is usually the last 4 digits of the cardholder's telephone number, but may be changed upon request.
Non-resident Fee
The Glendale Public Library system is funded by residential and business property taxes. The non-resident fee is comparable to what Glendale residents and/or business owners pay through property taxes. The non-resident card entitles the cardholder to the Library’s full range of services and materials. While the non-resident does need to pay a fee for checking out materials, the Glendale Public Library offers many programs and services free of charge.
A library card is available to you if:
- you live within the city limits of Glendale
- you own property within the city limits of Glendale
A courtesy library card is available to you if:
- you are currently enrolled in a course for academic credit at Glendale Community College, the Garvin Graduate School of International Management, or Midwestern University
- you are on active duty in the armed forces, or are the dependent of someone who is
- you own a business within the city limits of Glendale
- you are employed by or retired from the City of Glendale
- you are a member of the Literacy Volunteers of America
- you are a Glendale Public Library volunteer (A minimum of 10 hours per month)
If you meet any of the above criteria, you will be required to provide proof. Should you not meet any of the above criteria, a library card is available to you for a nonrefundable fee of:
- $40 for 1 year
- $20 for 6 months
- $10 for 3 months
A patron applying for a non-resident card may choose to add a spouse’s name to the library record at the time of application. The patron’s spouse may then access the non-resident card with his/her picture I.D. Any other persons wishing to use the non-resident card MUST have the library card to checkout or renew library materials.
Internet Access Card
If you do not meet the requirements for a free or courtesy library card, and you do not wish to purchase a library card, you may obtain a free Glendale Public Library Internet access card at any library checkout desk. This card will allow you to use our computers or wireless Internet at no charge, but will not allow you to check out materials from the library. The card will be assigned a 4-digit PIN to use for accessing the Internet. This is usually the last 4 digits of the cardholder's telephone number, but may be changed upon request.
Lost or Stolen Card
You are responsible for all materials checked out on your card whether you are in possession of the card or not. In order to prevent someone else from using your card it is important to immediately report it as lost or stolen. To report lost/stolen cards please call (623) 930-3530, option 4.
If your lost/stolen card is returned to the library, it will be held at the Circulation desk for 30 days. In order to obtain a replacement card or reactivate a lost card your photo ID is required. There is a $1.00 fee to replace a lost card. |
