NOTE: This position is temporary part-time at 19 hours per-week and does not include benefits.
JOB ELEMENTS INCLUDE:
- Provides security for the city libraries; enforces rules and regulations. Assist the library staff in maintaining a safe and secure environment for service to the public; and to protect the library’s materials and property.
- Patrols library, parking areas, and grounds in designated areas to observe and take action on unusual behavior and to prevent vandalism.
- Enforces established rules and regulations and answers basic directional and information questions asked by the public.
- Observes activity at assigned locations and notifies the Police Department of any emergencies or suspicious activities.
- Investigates and resolves customer security related complaints.
- Operates portable radio/and or phone to maintain contact with library staff.
- Records and reports deficiencies related to the facility, such as safety hazards and security lighting.
- Receives and investigates security related complaints.
- Reacts to emergency situations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have the ability to provide security and monitoring of City facilities. Preference will be given to candidates with security experience. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; and work cooperatively, courteously, yet assertively with all segments of the general public. Any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is qualifying.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires a valid Arizona driver’s license. Will be required to work days, evenings and weekends.
