Featuring colorful hot air balloons surrounding Murphy Park, the ornament is beautifully packaged for gift-giving. The keepsakes can be purchased for $13 each at the Glendale Visitor Center (5800 W. Give the Gift of Recreation Classes
Classes and recreation center passes make great gifts for everyone. Your child or grandchild would love to take a hip-hop dance or karate class. A Foothills Recreation & Aquatics Pass allows your best friend to swim laps, use the fitness center and attend a variety of fitness classes. And you can gift your spouse with classes you can take together, such as ballroom dancing, cooking or painting classes. The hard-to-buy-for teen on your list might love receiving a cake decorating, guitar or even an acting class. Dedicate a Tree Program - A Gift That Lives Year After Year
Honor a relative, a loved one or a special friend by dedicating a tree in their name. Through the city's “Dedicate-A-Tree” program, you have the opportunity to give a rare gift, one that lives and can be enjoyed for years to come. A 24-inch box tree is planted in a Glendale city park to celebrate special occasions. Plant a tree to celebrate births, weddings, birthdays, memorials, special projects, anniversaries, graduations and special family events. Watch the tree grow along with the child or union to which it is dedicated. Or commemorate the loss of a loved one or dear friend by planting a living memorial that lasts for years. Civic and youth groups, sports teams or churches can use the “Dedicate-A-Tree” program to honor individuals for special achievements or leadership. This is a wonderful way for your group to display its pride in the community. Call 623-930-2820 or 623-930-2691 for more information.
Make a Donation in a Friend or Family Member’s Name to Glendale’s From the Heart Program or by Funding a Youth Recreation Scholarship
From the Heart: From the Heart puts your donation to work every day to make life better for countless Glendale residents. Whether serving meals to the elderly, giving emergency help to homeless families or supporting abused children, From the Heart gives agencies that provide services to our neighbors a helping hand. The Gila River Indian Community makes it possible to help even more Glendale families by providing an annual match of $75,000 to the From the Heart program. Making a From the Heart donation is easy. You can mail or bring a check or money order made out to From the Heart in any dollar amount to:
City of Glendale, Customer Service Office
5850 W. Glendale Avenue, 1st Floor, Glendale, AZ, 85301
Remember, your donation will immediately grow because of a match from the Gila River Indian Community and will help kids succeed, assist families to meet unforeseen hardships, care for the elderly and support people with special needs. Because administering From the Heart is an all-volunteer effort, 100 percent of all contributions go directly to providing essential human services to our most vulnerable residents. Your donation to From the Heart will make a difference in someone’s life!
Youth Recreation Scholarship: The Glendale Parks and Recreation Department maintains a scholarship fund to help Glendale youth who do not have the financial means to participate in recreation programs. The scholarship program is made possible through donations from businesses and individuals throughout the Valley.
