Julie Watters has more than 20 years of television and radio experience, including 11 ½ years with Channel 12 (KPNX), the NBC affiliate in Phoenix. An Emmy and Best of the West award winner, Watters joined Glendale 11 in 2006 as Executive Producer where she produces and hosts several shows and is an assistant manager. Her journalism includes thousands of stories throughout Arizona and national stories such as the Oklahoma City bombing, the Northridge, Calif. earthquake and the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. In 2002, Watters joined the Glendale Fire Department. She developed a public information office, taught media relations, organized community programs and implemented the department’s first-ever community services division. She was promoted to a level on par with an assistant chief. Julie has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Northern Arizona University. She completed the Arizona State University Advanced Public Executive Program and National Press Photographers Association (NPPA) Writing Workshop. |
