Glendale Firefighters Asking Folks To Think “Heat Safety”
As we continue to experience high temperatures, the Glendale Fire Department is advising everyone to think “heat-safety” this summer. Valley firefighters respond to thousands of heat-related incidents each year. Many incidents can be prevented by using these tips;
- Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids and limit beverages such as soda and those containing caffeine and alcohol. These types of beverages can cause dehydration.
- Cover your head and use sunscreen. The greatest amount of heat loss from the body occurs at the head so please wear a hat or cap.
- Do your daily exercise and yard work early and if possible, avoid being outside during the hours of 11:00 AM through 6:00 PM.
- NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR PETS INSIDE OF AN UNATTENDED VEHICLE.
