Glendale Firefighters Give Free CPR Training To Over 150 People
GLENDALE, AZ. – Glendale Firefighters will gather to give free training on CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillators) to members of the community on Friday, 09-21-2007. Dr. Ben Bobrow, Medical Director for the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services, will be a special guest speaker and will deliver a presentation on “Continues Chest Compressions (CCC). CCC is a newly discovered process for resuscitation of cardiac patients and has shown to be effective in certain situations. The class will take place at the City of Glendale Council Chambers, located at 5850 W. Glendale Avenue in Glendale. The class hours will be from 5pm – 9pm.
“Our goal is to teach as many people CPR as we can. We know as first responders, this can mean the difference between life and death,” said Glendale Fire Chief Mark Burdick.
According to American Heart Association, effective bystander CPR provided immediately after cardiac arrest can double a victim’s chance of survival.
Among those in attendance will be Midwestern University students, day care providers, parents, teachers, community volunteers and others.
