Safe Neighborhood Heroes Grant Awarded To
Glendale Fire & Police
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Both the Glendale Fire and Police Departments have received grants from Wal-Mart’s “Safe Neighborhood Heroes” Program. Each department has been awarded $1,000 from the Wal-Mart at 83rd Ave. and Union Hills.
The police department will use the funding to assist its Community Action Team (CAT) through community policing. The CAT is a direct liaison between the department and citizens through proactive crime prevention programs.
The fire department will use its grant for its Alternative Response (AR) Program, an all-volunteer program within the fire department that utilizes more than 150-crisis trained volunteers. AR Team Members respond to critical incidents, 24- hours a day, 7-days a week, to assist victims of fires, car accidents, drownings, homicides, assaults and other similar types of crisis.
Throughout the month of October, Wal-Mart stores across the country donated $8.5 million to local communities through its “Safe Neighborhood Heroes” Program. |
