Glendale Fire Department Adds Recruits Graduate
from New State-of-the-Art Facility
Five recruit firefighters from the Glendale Fire Department will graduate from the training academy on January 12, 2008. The recruits have spent the past twelve weeks at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center preparing to become fire and rescue first responders. The training includes the most up to date tactics for firefighting and Emergency Medical Services. Glendale recruits Gilbert Mancilla, Brett Metzger, Trent Ryberg and Mathew Zongas and John Walter III are part of a larger class of 19 recruits representing fire departments from Glendale, Peoria and Surprise. Class 07-2, also known as the “Vigiles” is the second class to graduate from the new Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center. The graduation ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 12th at 10 a.m. at Crosspoint Christian Church located at 8600 West Glendale Avenue in Glendale.
* Recruit firefighters receive their official firefighter badges and will be introduced for the first time as valley firefighters in the presence of their families and friends.
* Fire Chief, Firefighters and Elected Officials will be present.
