Court - Civil Traffic Court & Parking Violations

The Civil Traffic Division of the Glendale Municipal Court sits Mondays through Fridays, from 8:30 a.m.-noon and from 1:30-5 p.m., except City observed holidays. If you fail to appear for your court date, a default may be entered, fees added and driving privileges suspended.

At a hearing, the officer will present evidence and may call witnesses. You will have an opportunity to present evidence, to call witnesses and to question the opposing witnesses. If you are found responsible, any fines imposed are due in full by 5 p.m. on the day of the hearing.

Civil traffic and parking charges may be resolved prior to the appearance date listed on your complaint by one of three ways:

  1. Pay the fine. You may waive your right to a hearing, plead responsible, and pay the sanction according to the sanction schedule. (Click here to view the sanction schedule.)
  2. Successfully complete Defensive Driving School (DDS). The charge will be dismissed and no points will be placed on your driving record. (Click here to learn more about Defensive Driving School.)
  3. Request a hearing. A hearing is like a trial; you may bring witnesses when you present your case to the judge. If you are found responsible, you lose the option of going to the Defensive Driving School. (Click here to learn more about civil traffic hearings.)

*Please Note: Following a plea or a finding of responsible to a red light violation (Section 28-645A3A or Section 28-647.1), or if the driver is under 18 and found responsible for any moving violation, the Motor Vehicle Department will require attendance at a Traffic Survival School (TSS). However, if the driver is eligible and completes the Defensive Driving School (DDS), the driver would not be subject to the sanction or attendance at TSS.

Child Seat Violations: Children Are Priceless Passengers (CAPP) is a voluntary program available to drivers cited for violation of A.R.S. 28-907A (Child Restraint Law). The usual fine is waived upon completion of the two-hour child safety class. (Click here to learn more about CAPP.)
