Volunteer Position Description

Position Title: Fix-It-Shop Volunteer, Glendale Adult Center

Responsible To: The Recreation Coordinator assigned to the program.

Job Summary: Performs duties in the Fix-It Shop.

Essential Functions: Accepts and logs in items for repair, and purchases repair parts as needed. Repairs items and phones customer when the job is completed.   Prepares invoice, accepts payment, and delivers payment to volunteer at VII register.

Time Required: A three hour commitment on Fridays, from 9:00 a.m.-Noon.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic knowledge of electricity, general mechanical skills, and ability to read repair manuals. Ability to be courteous and tactful when dealing with the public. Ability to follow specific oral and written instructions and established procedures.

Working Conditions: Requires sitting, lifting and standing.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of and comfort of  proper use of  various equipment and small machinery. Completion of a standard high school education or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
