Volunteer Position Description
Position Title: Business Forum Leader, Main Library
Responsible To: Reference Department Volunteer Coordinator and, if applicable, City of Glendale staff.
Job Summary: Organizes and conducts the library’s Business Forum networking group.
Essential Functions:
Plans, organizes and coordinates and conducts the monthly Business Forum. Handles all administrative tasks associated with the Forum including securing speakers and developing topics. Notifies the Reference department staff of meeting times, dates, speaker information, equipment needs and publicity information. Produces and distributes monthly promotional flyers, sets up the meeting room and reports attendance statistics to the library staff.
Time Required: Monthly meeting – 3 hours + offsite preparation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Background in Business management, networking and Communications is required. The ability to communicate effectively with the public and establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff is essential.
Working Conditions: Volunteer will be working indoors in the library meeting rooms. Volunteer must be able to set up tables and chairs as needed. This involves bending and lifting.
Minimum Qualifications: Strong business management background, networking and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as a team member
