Volunteer Position Description
Position Title: AV Processing Volunteer, Main Library
Responsible To: Technical Services Volunteer Coordinator and, if applicable, City of Glendale staff.
Job Summary: Helps process library audio-visual materials for check-out. Volunteer will be trained and supervised by Technical Services staff.
Essential Functions: Processing of AV materials (CD’s, Audio books, DVD’s) using supplies such as: tape, barcodes and labels. Some mending of A/V materials (new cases and covers) .
Time Required: Days and time volunteered are dependent on the needs of the library and availability of volunteer. Shift – 9 a.m. – noon, weekdays only.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: The ability to use the equipment listed below is necessary. Fine motor skills and hand strength are necessary including the ability to perform precise label and tape placement.
Working Conditions: The volunteer will perform their duties, seated at a work station in Technical Services. Equipment used by the volunteer are: scissors, tape machines, barcode duplicator, stapler and paper cutter.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum age for this position is 16. Ability to follow instructions, work independently and with accuracy is essential.
