Social Services Funding Opportunities

Each fiscal year, the Glendale City Council allocates 15 percent of the city's annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement to social service agencies. These agencies are selected through a competitive grant process, which is overseen by the Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC)—a citizen committee appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
These agencies provide a wide range of services for Glendale residents who have limited incomes. Services are provided for all citizens, however, there are services that are aimed for the following groups:

• Seniors
• Youth
• Disabled
• Individuals in danger of becoming homeless
• Victims of domestic violence
• Employment

The services provided range from:

• Providing hot, nutritious meals for seniors at the Glendale Adult Center and the Glendale Community Center
• Providing transportation for the elderly and disabled to medical services outside
  of the city limit
• Providing job training and counseling for older adults and teens
• Providing elementary and high school health clinics for children and their families
• Providing adult volunteers to mentor youth from single-family households
• Providing early intervention counseling to youth first-time offenders
• Providing counseling and case management to hard-of-hearing individuals
• Providing short term financial assistance to households in crisis
• Providing emergency shelter and counseling for victims of domestic violence

The agencies awarded grant funding vary from year to year.
